Voltaire Lexington Monoflap

My new saddle FINALLY came on Monday! I don’t know how I got through the work day, I was so excited. But I did and of course I went right to the barn to try it out.

It was heaven. Yes, stiff as it is a new saddle and needs to be oiled for ten days. But heaven regardless.

I can’t wait to ride in it more!

  1. How exciting! Looks lovely.

It’s interesting to me that they are having you oil it for ten days? My saddle came oiled and I was just supposed to condition it prior to first ride and after every ride for x number of rides (don’t remember exactly).

  2. Very pretty. And now to showcase how not having a horse for about 5 years makes me feel a little behind on what’s hip in the equine world. I’ve seen other bloggers mention monoflap saddles. I have no clue what this is. Based on the root word, my guess is that it only has one flap. So underneath the pretty part we see in your photo is basically just three billet straps? Has anyone written blog entries on this type of saddle? Is there one particular discipline that is leading the monoflap craze? Enquiring minds want to know. 🙂
