Tack Needs and Brownies

Today was supposed to be a confirmation photo and goal update… but since I was dealing with an incredibly ADHD thoroughbred who wouldn’t hold still long enough for me to practice my braiding, that’s going to have to wait until tomorrow. Still could have done the photos but once I took out the four braids I had done (plus pretty awesome forelock braid), I didn’t want to take a picture with a partially crimped mane.

Someday, when I’ve got a second set of hands around, I’ll get Dandy’s whole mane/forelock and tail done. Then I’ll take lots of pretty pictures and we can all ooh and aah over what a pretty hunter pony my thoroughbred is.

Guinness and I had an “interesting” time at the barn this afternoon. Between Dandy continuously shoving me off the the stool and Guinness running off and refusing to listen, I was happy to come home. Still, I guess there are just going to be days like that. Tomorrow will be better as we’re going to the arena to school. Dandy loves the footing in that arena. I think it must remind him of the track.

Anyway, as many of you already know, I’m a bit of a tack whore. My favorite catalog as a child was Dover but recently I’ve received a SmartPack catalog and Oh. My. Gosh. so much love for everything in it. There’s so much in there that I want! It’s probably a good thing that I don’t have any money because I very quickly would be bankrupt. However, there are a few things that I need as soon as possible.

In order of most importance:

A saddle – at this point, I don’t care if it’s a dressage saddle or a jumping saddle. Someday I’ll need both but at this point I just need to be able to ride my horse!

Flash/Figure-8 noseband – Dandy is just very mouthy on his bit. It’s getting a little ridiculous. I think I’ll be going for a Figure-8 because it allows for better air flow and I like the look of it more than the flash. As a side note, my trainer suggested bit guards so we’ll pick up a set of those.

Show clothes – mostly, a new hunt coat. Although, I’d like to get nice new tall boots as well. Still, probably not super important.

Open front boots – Support for Dandy’s legs that will also discipline him for hitting bars once we start jump training (which might be at the end of the summer!).

The list of things I want is much much longer. 🙂

Tonight the puppy and I are just hanging out, missing Eric celebrating that Eric is off on a ski trip. I’ve got brownies in the oven and The Big Bang Theory on t.v. Could my night be any better?
