Snap Crackle Pop

Dandy may have been jumping recently with JLE but I haven’t gone over anything in at least a month! Probably longer. But I really wanted to do some jumping and since I had the boy willing to come out and be photographer I went ahead and popped over a few small fences on Sunday.

Popped was definitely the right word!

Dandy was hard core cracking his back over every fence and jumping me out of the tack. It doesn’t help that I just don’t have the strength to do it at all.

DSC_0031-2After the first real size jump, I had to force myself to really sit up, be silent to the fence and grab mane. Even that really wasn’t enough.

So, for the next few weeks I’m going to go back to basics and ride around in my two-point and ride without stirrups. I used to be able two-point for my entire lesson but now I’m feeling sore after a few steps. It’s going to take a while but hopefully that will at least build the leg back up.

As for the hands and my release, I’ll have to get JLE to run me through a few grids.

Dandy went XC schooling JLE yesterday. I was so bummed that I now have a job and couldn’t go, though at least I could pay for it this time! JLE texted me this morning and said he did TERRIFIC. The other horse in his group is working on going novice so it’s possible he was jumping that high. I can’t wait until I see JLE and can get more details!

  1. You’re hanging on and not hitting him in the face. 🙂 I’m sure you cherry picked the best shots, but still. Not that bad. 😉 Glad you two are improving and yay having a job!

    1. Hahaha, major cherry picking done! I was very careful to not hit him in the face though and even in the bad shots I didn’t do it. But I had to grab major mane to do so!
