Getting Ready

Having a pony who was gone in California, then off because he was sick, and then off because he was lame (stepped on shoe clip, we think) has really gotten me out of the habit of blogging. I’ve been trying to keep up with everyone else but work has been so busy and stressful that I haven’t been very good at that either.

All that being said, Dandy is back to work just in time for his first ever recognized horse trial which is in just a little over a week at the inaugural E.I. Horse Trial. I am so excited to see how he does! Dandy has never been to the WA Horse Park, and it has been a few weeks since he’s gone anywhere, so this will be a good chance to see how he handles something completely different. JLE will be riding him in the Open BN division (which is packed full of local pros!). I will do my best to be happy with every small victory but I’ll also admit that I’d like a finish that will get him a ribbon. I like ribbons.

I feel like there is a lot to do to get Dandy ready and it’s moments like these where I really wish I didn’t have a job. Instead I’ll have to go out after work to bath Dandy and pack the trailer. I’m taking a day and a half of PTO to make sure that I can get him to the park and not sit in rush hour traffic for too long. And I’m going to be doing this all by myself. Eric is not going to be taking Friday off and probably won’t come down until Saturday. I don’t really need him there since I’m not showing, but it would be nice to have the help!

Still I am BEYOND excited for this. Expect some very lengthy show recaps.

    1. I think so! Dandy and JLE are a great partnership so I’m glad she’s going to take him through his first recognized experience.
