A Wild Start

So Mr. GusGus ended up getting 21 days off, or three weeks! Thankfully not for an injury or anything but just because with the holidays and all the rain I just didn’t have much of a chance to get out there.

I do think breaks are good for most horses, especially young horses who have a huge change in lifestyle and what they’re being asked to do. Normally Gus comes off this type of break with a fresh mind that has thought about what we just did.

Well, I don’t know if it was the cold or if three weeks was just a little too long… but Gus was a wild thing. I’m going to blame it on the cold because we really did have a sudden cold front roll in. It’s not something I really want to be out working in either. But everything was scary. The flowers. The lead rope. Harley.

Oh Gus, Gus. Settle down, we’ve got work to do!
